0:00 Meet James, The Dog Geezer
Hello, I’m James, also known as The Dog Geezer.
0:08 Six years at Hareshill Boarding Kennels
I’ve been working at Hareshill Boarding Kennels, and I’ve been running it on my own for the last six years. I’ve been dealing with dogs from every walk of life: every breed, vicious, aggressive, nervous. You name it, I’ve dealt with it.
0:19 Dog training experience
I’ve done a dog training course, and I’ve done quite a few dog training sessions with customers’ dogs outside of work.
0:34 Meet Rogue
I also own a Belgian Malinois, Rogue. She’s my everything. She’s my best friend. She’s my helping assistant. She helps me in the kennels, she helps me with everything. She’s amazing.
0:46 The next chapter: walking and training
I’m going to be closing the kennels because of the development around this area. They’re building houses absolutely everywhere. So I’m going to be switching to dog walking and dog training.
1:02 Plans for a dog training space
I’m also thinking about keeping the premises for the dog training. We’ve got a great area here. I’ve got kennels, I’ve got a grass area, and I’ve got gated individual runs for the dogs. So it’d be a no-brainer to build some sort of dog training area.
1:24 Adventure days and a love of the outdoors
I’d also like to do dog adventure days. I love going up in the mountains, out in the sticks, finding big hills. I’m an avid ultrarunner and I love doing crazy distances. My dog loves them too, so I figured there must be other dogs out there that need a little bit more than a dog walk. Dogs that need a whole day of exercise, like my Belgian Malinois.
1:52 Places to explore
So I’m going to be offering days where I take dogs out to places like the Lake District, Ashworth Valley, anywhere really with massive open spaces where we can really go for an adventure.
2:09 Dog running for fit dogs
I also do a lot of training runs, so I’m going to be offering dog running as well. This will just be for a few individual fit dogs, similar to my dog’s breed. So yeah, this is me. That’s my experience. This is just an introduction. Thank you.
