Practical support

Start with the day you have.

Training support is built around your dog and the situations you are finding difficult. You can tell James about lead manners, recall, confidence, calmer routines or problem habits at home, then discuss whether his support is a suitable fit.

Bringing a puppy home? Start with the new puppy checklist (UK).

£35 for a one-hour first session at your home. Follow-up prices depend on your dog and are agreed after the first hour.

Fully insured and DBS-checked. Reactive and aggressive dogs are a speciality: James has handled difficult dogs every day for six years at Hareshill Boarding Kennels.

Meet Rogue. James’s six-year-old Belgian Malinois. She’s good with all dogs, which makes her a big help when James is working with anxious, nervous or aggressive dogs.

What a training session looks like

  • Where: The first hour is at your home, so James sees your dog in its own surroundings.
  • Length and price: One hour, £35.
  • What happens: James watches your dog with you, works out what’s going on, then takes over and shows you where things are going wrong.
  • Follow-ups: Most issues can be addressed in the first hour. If not, sessions go where the problem is: at home, on a walk or around other dogs. Price agreed after the first hour.
  • Travel: No travel charge in Heywood, Rochdale, Middleton or Bury.

Before you enquire

Dog training in Heywood: a few useful details.

Can I book dog training straight away?

Training enquiries currently go onto a waiting list. An enquiry is not a confirmed booking. James checks availability and suitability before agreeing a next step.

What can I ask for help with?

You can discuss lead manners, recall, confidence, calmer routines and problem habits at home. The first chat helps you work out whether the support is suitable for your dog.

How long is a training session?

One hour. The first session is always at your home, so James can see how your dog behaves in its own surroundings.

Where does training take place?

It starts at your home. Follow-up sessions go wherever the problem happens: at home, out on a walk or around other dogs.

How much is training support?

The first one-hour session at your home is £35. Most issues can be addressed in that hour. If your dog needs follow-up sessions, the price depends on your dog and is agreed after the first hour.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Training takes place at your home across Heywood, Rochdale, Middleton and Bury, with no travel charge.

Can you help with reactive or aggressive dogs?

Yes. James specialises in reactive and aggressive dogs, including dogs with a bite history and dogs nobody else can walk. He has handled difficult dogs every day for six years at Hareshill Boarding Kennels, and works with Rogue, his Belgian Malinois, who is good with all dogs. Reactive dogs who need training are walked solo.

Are you insured?

Yes. James is fully insured and DBS-checked. He has also run Hareshill Boarding Kennels in Heywood for six years, so he has handled every breed, temperament and situation.
