James has run Hareshill Boarding Kennels in Heywood for six years. In that time he has looked after every breed and temperament, including reactive dogs, dogs with a bite history and dogs that other people would not take. Now he walks dogs around Heywood, with his own Belgian Malinois, Rogue, who is good with every kind of dog. You deal with James directly, and he is the one who walks your dog.
Which walk suits which dog?
A 30 minute walk suits a dog that needs a break in the middle of the day: a toilet trip, a sniff and a stretch of the legs. A 1 hour walk suits a dog that needs real exercise, such as a younger, bouncier or working breed. A full day out suits a dog who would otherwise be home alone for a working day.
A solo walk suits a dog who prefers their own company, is shy, is still learning manners, or is on a training plan. A small group walk suits a dog who loves other dogs and is happy in a pack of up to four.

I’m James, the owner of Hareshill Boarding Kennels in Heywood. Handling dogs is part of my everyday life — different breeds, different personalities and different routines.
The Dog Geezer brings that experience out on the lead and into everyday life. Steady walking, practical training and honest advice, with someone you can get to know.
You’ll probably meet Rogue too: my six-year-old Belgian Malinois and the dog in the photos on this site. She’s brilliant with other dogs and helps me work with anxious, nervous and aggressive dogs.

Walking and training enquiries currently go onto waiting lists. James will check availability and suitability before agreeing a next step. An enquiry is not a confirmed booking.
How much will it cost?
Walks are £12 for 30 minutes, £19 for an hour and £100 for a full day, solo or group, with collection included. The first one-hour training session at your home is £35. The first chat is free.
Do you pick up and drop off?
Yes. James collects your dog from home and brings them back, with no extra charge, across Heywood, Rochdale, Middleton and Bury.
Do you walk dogs together?
Yes, if you’d like. James offers solo walks and small group walks of up to four dogs, at the same price. Dogs that are reactive or working on training are always walked solo.
What happens if my dog gets injured?
If anything happens, James contacts you straight away and your dog goes to its own vet. Any vet fees are settled between you and your vet.
Are you insured?
Yes. James is fully insured and DBS-checked. He has also run Hareshill Boarding Kennels in Heywood for six years, so he has handled every breed, temperament and situation.
Can you walk reactive dogs?
Yes. James specialises in reactive and aggressive dogs, including dogs with a bite history, after six years handling difficult dogs at Hareshill Boarding Kennels, with help from Rogue, his Belgian Malinois. Reactive dogs are always walked solo.
What does training cover?
Practical help with lead manners, recall, confidence, calmer routines and problem habits at home. Tell James what you’re finding difficult so you can discuss the right support.
Is my dog suited to an adventure day?
Adventure days are aimed at active dogs who enjoy time outdoors. Discuss your dog’s needs, fitness and temperament with James before arranging an outing.
